Update #5

This week marked a major milestone for Arnold! He has officially made a major move out of Grant Trauma Hospital into an acute care facility. This means that all vitals are remaining steady, surgeries are complete, and everything is healing properly. The team here will be moving quickly to get him fully prepared for his next step towards rehabilitation.

Arnold wants all his friends to know he says hello! Because of his wrist surgeries, he’s been unable to hold his phone to check texts and social media (talk about a nice social media detox!) As he starts to get some strength back in his wrists over the next couple weeks we’ll get his phone back in his hands to say hi himself 😊

With this new move, Arnold will be allowed to start receiving more visitors. He still has very busy days packed with plenty of physically therapy (and naps), so we will reach out as he asks for individuals specifically, and as soon as we know the schedule of free time hours for visitors. More info to come!

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who has helped with dinner through the Meal Train schedule. It has made our lives exponentially easier to have dinner ready when we come home after long days at the hospital.

Finally, thank you to every person who has asked how they can help or donate. We have established a non-profit called Arnold’s Ride. More updates to come this week on how you can contribute, upcoming events, and how you can get involved.

Thank you again for all your help, well wishes, and prayers. Keep the prayers coming! We love you all.

Update #4

Thank you to everyone who has continued to reach out about Arnold and our family. We have had a very busy past few weeks with a handful of major improvements, as well as a few unexpected setbacks. We’re quickly learning that the healing process is not completely linear! Overall, Arnold is doing great and the doctors are very pleased with how stable he has been across the board within the past week. With all the improvements he’s made, we are looking to move Arnold out of the trauma hospital within the next couple weeks, and into an acute care facility. He will spend a small period of time there before he begins to work on his rehabilitation. Once he moves to the next facility Arnold may be able to have more visitors. We will update you on that when we have more information, but he wants everyone to know that he says hello! Thank you again to everyone who has sent well wishes and prayers our way.

Additionally, thank you so much for everyone who has contributed meals through the Meal Train. It has taken a great deal of stress of our shoulders to not have to worry about cooking as we run back and forth between Westerville and the hospital. https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/3qlz80/updates/

Finally, thank you so much to everyone who attended the fundraiser dinner at Yabo’s Tacos. We were extremely humbled by the number of people to show their love and support. We could not fight this battle without you all. Keep the prayers coming, we love you all.

Update #3

Arnold is currently still in the hospital but has made a big step, moving a step down from the critical care unit to trauma care. All planned surgeries have been finished and he is healing as expected. While Arnold has been extremely busy each day with tests and physical therapy, he’s still been cracking jokes and making us laugh every chance he can. When he’s not sleeping or having physical therapy he’s enjoyed watching the news and listening to music. Due to the nature of the care unit, the doctors have limited visitors to just family at this time. We will let you know when more visitors are permitted, but in the meantime he says hello to all his friends and family and he hopes everyone has a great Easter! We want to thank everyone again that has reached out, prayed for Arnold, or helped in some way. Thank you again to everyone that has signed up for meals on the Meal Train (https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/3qlz80). It has made life a little easier not having to worry about cooking as we go back and forth from Westerville to the hospital each day. We love you all, have a great Easter weekend!

Update #2

Arnold’s final planned surgery is completed and went great this morning. The doctors are pleased with his progress thus far. Arnold is surrounded by immediate family, but is not currently receiving any additional visitors at this time while he heals. Thank you to every person that has texted, called, and responded on Facebook with your love and prayers. The amount of love shared with us in the last couple days is incredible. Arnold has a long road ahead towards recovery, but we’re taking everything one day at a time. Please continue to keep the prayers coming!

Thank you so much,

The DeSena family.

Update #1

As many of you may know, Arnold was in a motorcycle accident on State St. in Westerville on Tuesday afternoon with injuries to his arms and spine. He has been in the hospital since then, and surgery yesterday went as planned. We are planning for one more surgery tomorrow morning. While he’s been sleeping a lot, he still has all the humor and sass we all know and love! We currently have many members of our immediate family here to support us. With all the family currently here, we are not receiving any additional visitors at the hospital at this time. We are so gracious for your support, love and prayers. We are overwhelmed by the number of people who have reached out to us and Arnold. Please keep the prayers coming! We will keep you updated and let you know how we can use your help in the days to come.

Thank you,

The DeSena Family.
